The Cork Ball Game |

CORK BALL GAME RULES

PLAYERS
A team will consist of a pitcher and a catcher.

THE GAME
The CORK BALL game shall consist of three innings. Each inning consists of two outs. The pitcher delivers the cork in an underhanded fashion by flipping it off the first knuckles of the middle two fingers. There is no base running in the game but base hits are credited to the batter on the distance the cork is hit. If the cork is hit on or past the single marker, the batter is credited with a single; on or past the double marker the batter shall be credited with a double, etc. Any cork hit past the pitcher is a base hit, unless the pitcher catches the cork in the air, which is an out. Distance markers may be placed according to field space available.

SCORING
The scoring of runs is done in the following manner. A runner cannot advance unless the next batter is credited with a hit that forces the runner forward a base. Example: A runner is on first and the next batter hits a double. Runners would now be on second and third. Runs can only be scored when forced in.

OUTS
A batter can only be put out in the following manner:
1.  If a hit ball is caught in the air.
2.  If a batter swings at the cork, misses it and the catcher catches it.
3.  If the batter hits a grounder and the pitcher fields it clean in front of the single marker and  doesn't fumble or drop it, it is considered an out.

EXCEPTIONS
a.  If ball comes to a complete stop before pitcher fields it, it is a dead ball and batter will continue to hit.
b.  If pitcher fields ball on or beyond the singles mark, the batter will be awarded a single.

EXTRA INNINGS (Game tied after 3 innings)
In extra innings, bases will be considered to be loaded when a team comes to bat. A single will score one run, a double two runs, a triple three runs and a home run four runs. Other than starting with the bases loaded, extra innings are the same as regular innings. Each team gets two outs and they play until one team has the lead at the end of a complete inning.

SPECIAL NOTE
Within a reasonable amount of throws, a batter must swing at a pitch. Leader of event may set time limit.
